About The Team and What We Aim to Achieve:
This particular team was formed in 2007 and we run with a squad of 18 players. We currently have 16 players registered within this age group. 2010/11 will mark our third season in the Sussex Sunday Youth League, having played in the Central Division in 2009/10 and in the East division in 2008/09. Last season the team lost only two games, one a SSYFL game againsy Meridian 2-1 and the other a friendly against Patcham by the same scoreline. Of all our other fixtures we drew just two games, the home and away fixtures against Ratton Rangers and won our remaining games.
The team is coached by fully qualified coaches who hold FA coaching badges and who have completed CRB checks. The coaches involved in this team devote a large amount of their spare time to coaching football not just with Saltdean, but in other coaching environments at different age levels. Chris Hindle is currently the head coach for this team and is supported by Nigel Down and Oliver Adams.
The mission for the Under 10's is to provide an environment where every child is given an opportunity to participate in team play whilst being coached to become a better football player. In doing so we aim to make each child feel like an important and contributing part of the team whilst encouraging the development of key football skills, when practicing in a safe and fun environment. We have a policy of developing players further if we feel it appropriate and we identify certain characteristics for a specific position or show an interest in certain areas of the game. As an example, over the course of Autumn 2008 we provided funding for 3 of our players to attend courses specifically designed for goalkeepers. These courses are run by Chelsea FC using coaches from CFC specifically trained in the development of key goalkeeping techniques. The courses take place in Seaford and the players were selected so as to ensure that our goalkeepers were able to develop key characteristics and learn to protect themselves when goalkeeping in the games we play. Two of the squad continue to attend the sessions and the Under 10's coach is a volunteer on the coaching sessions so that he can continue to develop his coaching skills to effectively develop the local players.
We are always on the look out for quality new players and if you are interested in getting your child involved in the club then contact Chris Hindle at sufcu7@gmail.com to discuss further. If you happen to run specialised football courses then please also contact Chris to discuss whether these may be considered appropriate to any of the players we are currently developing.
